Happy Imbolc! There's a NEW BOOK out!





Hello! I hope your Imbolc was amazing, everyone! It's also Alexander Scott's birthday...and I celebrated by publishing a book! There is a NEW NOVEL out...the paperback is available now, and the Kindle version will be out later this week. This is Book 2 in The Ways Between series...the sequel to The Ballad of Birdie MacLeod, which came out last January. The first new novel in a year!


Here's the description:


1722. The Witches' Isles of Noddfa Kyrridven. A place suspended between Faerie and Earth...


Nineteen year-old Birdie MacLeod has lost everything: her family, her homeland, and her first love, Samuel James, a part-Fae / part Human entity being held prisoner by the enigmatic and cruel Elementals. She arrives at the Witches' refuge to discover that learning the magick she needs to help her loved ones is not what she expected, and must find her way in a world very unlike her own.


But just as she is beginning to get her feet under her and explore her own unique magickal abilities, the world changes yet again, forcing her to run for her life as she seeks the history behind those who pursue her and who created Samuel James. And the ring that Sorley gave her, which was supposed to protect her from spirits, has contained an unexpected surprise all along...


The Angel and the Blackbird is Book Two in The Ways Between Prequel Series to The Spiral Pathways and represents the element of air. Rich in the history and lore of Scotland and Greece and authentic witchcraft practice, it sets the stage for Wyldwood and is a testament to the power of love to help us endure as we battle to accept our pasts and presents and set our sights on the future.


Oh, boy, are you about to experience some Spiral Pathways crossover, people! The Angel and the Blackbird features a well-know character from the main series who makes her appearance just a few pages in on the Witches' Isle, and you are about to learn the foundations of several secrets from the main series. Is Medusa a character? YES. Is Lilith a character? YES. Will we spend some more time with Thomas Scott, Alex's father? Crack this baby open and have a look!

I want to thank everyone who supported Darkflower Books and Folk Art during 2024. I met so many wonderful people at fairs, markets, classes and workshops, and look forward to doing so again in 2025. The first event I'll be at is the Dark Arts and Oddities Market in Milton, PA on Valentine's Day weekend! If you like Vampires AT ALL, you gotta get tickets to this two day bash with a fantastic Vampire Masquerade Ball, Vampire Dance Party, and Market by Reign of Terror Entertainment in Milton, PA. And for those of who who have made our podcast numbers skyrocket...thank you. Season 2 Episode 1 will be out this Friday, and it's on Time, Space, and Letting Your Inner Child Out to Play. We did 19 episodes in 2024 and drop a new one at the end of every week. We have loved hearing from you and can't wait to continue in the year ahead! Need a new podcast in the new year? And....a new book will be out late January / early February! The Angel and the Blackbird is FINALLY almost done and then the sequel to The Balled of Birdie MacLeod will be out! And then...I am hoping to have the next in The Spiral Pathways series out by early summer! Alex and Saorsa's adventure will continue in The Book of High Places. There will also be a sequel to The Book of Samael coming out this year, and other writings are in the pipeline as well.


The Spiral Pathways Series is currently being republished in a new size...to better fit on bookshelves and to match closer in size with a new edition of Wyldwood, which will be re-published this year through MPP Publishing and finding its way into local bookstores!


And as for The Blue Ball Inn...the archaeology dig is closed for the winter since the ground is frozen, but we'll open up again for volunteer archaeologists to come dig in the spring. We have a lead on possible building remains in the backyard, and can't wait to dig in again! The Inn will also have more classes, events, and we're working on a book about the history and hauntings there. We hope you can come be part of the team there in 2025 as we uncover the mysteries of this extremely haunted 1747 tavern outside of Winchester, VA.

LILITH, WORTH, and NOVEMBER EVENTS


Hello, Lovely Friends.


Hoo boy, what a week. I want everyone to know I am sending you positive energy, good vibes, and a big double helping of hope and inspiration right now. And I have some new little gems for you to brighten the end of your week.

Also: there are some Blue Ball Inn 1747 Classes and an artifact cleaning party coming up at everyone's favorite haunted Inn (just this morning I walked into a bedroom on the second floor before the dig started and there was a woman standing there one minute who was gone the next). On Sunday, November 17th, I will be teaching not one but TWO classes inside the Inn to help raise funds for its restoration! From 10-noon we will be having tea and cookies in the parlor and learning to read tea leaves Victorian-style! Your tea party hosts are me, Tava Baird (living) and Mary Elizabeth (deceased, often makes her presence felt in the parlor.)
